We're off to the Emirates to create a unique heritage experience!

We are excited to have been appointed to work as part of the team for the design and redevelopment of the National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah.

Museum Design UAE

Ras Al Khaimah, also known as RAK, is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates.

Settled between the Gulf to the west and the Hajar mountains to the east, it boasts dramatic scenery and also one of the richest cultural heritages of all the emirates having been home to various civilizations for more than seven thousand years.

Instigated by His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al-Qasimi, Inca’s role is to bring the history and heritage of RAK to life, creating a strong brand identity for the National Museum and transforming it into a key tourist attraction and educational center that works for the future and not just the past.

The museum building has a rich history that has seen it act as a 19th-century fort, royal palace, police head-quarters and a prison!

Packed with ancient artifacts discovered from archeological digs in the region and precious gems, it is considered the wealthiest monumental museum in the UAE. However it has not been updated since it opened its doors as a museum in 1987 and requires a full review from the ground-up.

The Project Team

Led by Museum Manager, Kate Ayres the museum project features a team of archaeologists, designers, audio visual specialists and technicians.

Inca’s key role of Interpretative Branding, encompasses all 2D design, and the overall branding of the museum and its satellite heritage sites, marketing and social media.

Here at Inca we have developed brands for the Mary Rose Museum, Chirk Castle and Blenheim Palace. We know audiences are not passive spectators, they increasingly expect cultural and heritage organisations to offer them participatory experiences. The key is to build brands that transform such spaces into interesting and engaging platforms for people, whether they are visiting in person or online.
