Heritage Branding & Interpretation

Penshurst Historic Church received a Lottery Heritage Fund grant to restore this beautiful example of a British village church dating back to 1155 at least and quite possibly before 1066.

Inca were invited to develop a new identity, create interpretation panels, produce a visitor guide book and leaflets, signage and a website that would welcome both visitors interested in the history of the building as well as regular churchgoers.

Directed by Motivation, the Interpretation Specialist, Inca captured the essence of the life of the church to deliver a distinct, consistent and recognisable brand style, here applied to one of a series of informational panels positioned around the building.

A website details features of the church that visitors can expect to find and visiting times. A guide book, written by noted author and historian, David Lough, available in the nave, recounts the history of Penshurst through the ages.

Besides being a heritage site, Penshurst Church is also an active community hub and still in regular use as a church today.
