Typography: more than just words?


Finding inspiration in the creative use of type

Many think of typography as just typewritten words, a page of text, a means to convey the spoken word. And so it is, but beyond the obvious and everyday use is a world of expression in print where type takes on a whole new meaning.

It is refreshing to review and appreciate type set both with minute care and attention – or at the opposite extreme – with reckless abandon in creative and interesting ways. From the crisp orderliness of traditional letterpress to the expressive and abstract typography of the avant garde, to the aptly named 'grunge' typography of the 90's type really can be more than just words:
